LONG BEACH-- No. 4-ranked Long Beach State (17-3) scored eight runs in the third inning and won their eighth straight, defeating Harvard (1-11) 15-0 on Monday evening.

Jason Corder went 3-for-4 with three RBIs, while Shane Peterson added three hits and two RBIs. Seven Dirtbags had at least two hits in the 19-hit attack

Sophomore Brett Lorin (1-0) in his career start went the first five scoreless innings, giving up just one hit, while striking out six. Lorin retired the final nine batters he faced, as he was relieved after 69 pitches.

Relievers Anthony Carrillo, David Born, Nick Vincent and Bryan Shaw combined with Lorin on a one-hitter, the seventh in school-history. The quintet combined to retire the final 21 Crimson batters of the game.

After scoring two runs in the first, LBSU scored eight times in third to lead 10-0. In the third, John Hill had a two-run single and Brandon Godfrey and Corder each had two-run doubles, part of an eight-hit inning.

Shawn Haviland (1-1) gave up the first 10 runs for Harvard over the first five innings.

Harvard was no-hit by the University of San Diego's Josh Romanski earlier today, 12-0.

The Dirtbags travel to No. 31-ranked Pepperdine on Tuesday to begin a 10-game road trip, continuing at No. 11-ranked California this weekend.
