COLLEGE STATION, Tex. - In Sunday’s series finale, Long Beach State (5-11) was able to win the final seven innings, but an early 5-0 hole was too much to overcome against No. 8 Texas A&M (16-1) at Blue Bell Park.

The Aggies scored once in the first inning, then added four unearned runs in the second to take early command of the game. LBSU was able to settle things down from there, as the bullpen quartet of Dylan Spacke (2 IP), Adam Seminaris (IP), Eli Villalobos (IP), and Chris Rivera (IP) combined to cover the final five innings without allowing a run. The Aggies had just two baserunners after the third inning, via a single and a walk.

Spacke was the most effective, recording four strikeouts in his two innings of work. His season ERA currently sits at 0.75 in 12.0 innings pitched. Junior closer Chris Rivera finished the game for LBSU with a 1-2-3 inning in the eighth.

The Dirtbags offense came in the seventh inning as Brooks Stotler reached on an error at second base. After he advanced to second, he was brought home on a two-out RBI single from Garrett Nelson to make it 5-1.

Long Beach State will return home for a four-game homestand, beginning Wednesday with a 6 p.m. contest vs. Washington State. LBSU will also host a three-game series with Tulane next weekend at Blair Field.
