LONG BEACH, Calif. - For the third straight weekend, Long Beach State (4-8) was unable to close out a series win, falling in the rubber match to No. 9 Ole Miss (10-1) by a score of 12-1. The Dirtbags stranded 12 runners on base in the game, and couldn't silence the Ole miss lineup on a beautiful Sunday afternoon in Long Beach.

Tyler Radcliffe made his first appearance of the season for the Dirtbags as he got the start in the series finale. He allowed a run in two innings of work, walking a pair and recording a strikeout with 30 pitches thrown.

Long Beach's offense came in the seventh as Garrett Nelson led off with a pinch-hit double. That was followed by RBI singles from Steven Rivas and Antonio Torres to bring in LBSU's lone run of the day. Tristan Mercadel added a pair of singles for the Dirtbags on the day.

There were four freshmen in the starting lineup on Sunday, representing two pairs of high school teammates from a year ago: Rivas and Chris Jimenez from Etiwanda HS and Leonard Jones and Santino Rivera from Eastlake HS.

Long Beach State continues its difficult schedule on Wednesday of next week, hosting No. 5 Vanderbilt for a 6pm game at Blair Field.

Prior to Sunday's contest, the Dirtbags locker room was officially named the Honorable Bob & Nancy Foster Dirtbags Locker Room. After a pregame ceremony to recognize the Fosters for their support of Long Beach State, former mayor Bob Foster threw out the ceremonial first pitch to Dirtbags head coach Troy Buckley.
