MLB / Summer League: Drafted in the 20th round of the 2005 draft by the Phillies... listed as the 27th-best prospect out of the Cape Cod League by Baseball America after pitching for Chatham during the 2006 Summer League, playing with teammate Danny Espinosa... went 3-2 with a 3.03 ERA with 14 appearances and two starts... also picked up two saves over 35.2 innings, giving up 26 hits and striking out 36 and walking just 11... produced a .205 opponent batting average... after giving up six earned runs in his first appearance, gave up just six earned runs the rest of the way (1.56)... struck out six over 6.0 innings in first of two starts late in the year, following that up with seven innings of one-run baseball, striking out another six, seven days later... finished the year 2-0 with two saves, winning both starts and picking up two saves, giving up one earned run over his final 15.0 innings.

LBSU 2007: Appeared in 11 games with nine starts, going 1-2 with a 3.64 ERA before being shut down for the season... tossed 54.1 innings, givign up 58 hits, striking out 38 and walking 12... originally injured versus Oral Roberts on April 5 and came back May 15... pitched just twice before being shut down... started season with a no-decision at USC, pitching the first six innings, striking out six and giving up just four hits and one run in his first Friday start... got no decision in his next two starts against Texas at Rice, both pitching at least six innings, before a seven-inning win over Cal on Feburary 23... against the Golden Bears, he gave up one run on five hits and struck out six, hurling 40 of the first 50 pitches for strikes... used just 84 pitches at Wichita State on March 16 in another no-decsion giving up an unearned run on four hits over 7.2 innings... pitched just three innings against Oral Roberts before being taken out... pitched just two outings in May, an inning at LMU and a third of an inning against UC Riverside.

LBSU 2006: Rotated between the team's Sunday starter, long reliever and closer throughout the season... went 4-7 with one save for a 3.87 ERA over 21 games and eight starts... hurled 73.0 innings, striking out 37... lost five of his first six decisions before going 3-2 with a save and a 1.65 ERA over the final two months of the season... first win came against Illinois-Chicago on February 26, after pitching 8.0 shutout innings... gave up six hits on 94 pitches... took a no-hitter into the fifth against Wichita State, before giving five runs (one earned)... got the final four outs against UC Irvine on April 2, striking out two... win in relief against Pacific on April 29, pitching 2.0 shutout innings... pitched 4.1 scoreless innings of relief at CS Northridge on April 15... picked up two wins in mid-May, closing out the game against LMU with 5.2 innings of one-run, five-hit baseball after coming into the game in the fourth and then picked up a win over UCSB five days later with six innings of shutout ball when he struck out seven... listed as one of the top-50 freshmen by Baseball America to begin the year.

High School: Three-year varsity letterman in baseball at CK McCatchy High School... three-time first team All-Metro League selection and a two-time All-City pick... as a junior was named second team All-State... named to the Sacramento Bee's first team as a junior... the Lion infielder batted .349 as a sophomore with a 4-3 record and 3.62 ERA, before batting .455 with 29 RBIs, 23 runs and a 7-1 mark and 1.72 ERA... also struck out 68 over 53 innings as a junior... finished off his prep career with a .388 average, 4-3 record and 1.71 ERA... all told, went 15-7 in three varsity seasons... suffered an elbow strain late in the 2005 seasons, limiting his action.... noted as the "premier pitching prospect in Northern California" by Baseball America prior to the 2005 draft.
