Dirtbags Offense Arrives Too Late in Opening Night Loss at Oklahoma

LBSU dropped the opening game of the 2017 season, 6-2, at Oklahoma on Friday.

El Camino College (2015-16): Played for head coach Nate Fernley at ElCo, spending one season as a reliever and one as a starter, while also playing some in the outfield ... made 10 appearances out of the bullpen as a freshman, working 17 innings with a 2.65 ERA ... made the successful transition to the starting rotation as a sophomore, going 9-3 with a 2.82 ERA in 13 starts ... threw 105.1 innings and led the state with six complete games, earning First Team All-Conference honors in 2016.

Bellflower High School: Spent three seasons on varsity under head coach Keith Tripp ... named First Team All-Suburban League in 2014 ... was a two-time honorable mention selection on the Press-Telegram Dream Team in 2013 and 2014 ... during his senior season, threw a complete game shutout in a 4-0 win over Downey HS, then later in the year was just two outs shy of a no-hitter in a 7-0 win against Cerritos HS ... also played quarterback and wide receiver for the Buccaneers football team.

Personal: Parents are Paul and Martha ... graduated high school with high honors ... also recruited by Cal State Bakersfield, CSUN, Cal State LA, and Western Kentucky ... majoring in history.
