Jewels of the Night is the marquee event for generating revenue to support the more than 300 Long Beach State student-athletes in their quest to realize both their academic and athletic ambitions.

A 2004 graduate of Chico State in sports and exercise sciences, Scott Lemone is in his first season on the Dirtbag staff after being the director of baseball operaions at Cal Poly in 2007. Lemone was head pitching coach at De La Salle High in 2006 as well as with the NorCal Baseball Club under-17 team. His playing career included four seasons at De La Salle High (1996-99), two years at Boston College (2000-01), one season at Diablo Valley College (2002) and two campaigns at Chico State (2003-04). In 2003, Lemone compiled a 5-3 record and 3.54 ERA with 27 strikeouts in 40.2 innings pitched. He has worked with various baseball camps around the country.
