Long Beach State is being represented across the country by both players and coaches this summer.
Long Beach State reaches its first Super Regional since 2004 with a 2-1 win over Texas on Monday night.
LBSU won its second game of the day on Sunday night, topping Texas in a do-or-die game at Blair Field.
LBSU won its opening game of the NCAA Regional, shutting out San Diego State, 6-0.
LBSU led the Big West with 11 players and head coach Troy Buckley earning All-Conference recognition or awards.
Long Beach State (2017): Second Team All-Big West selection … During his sophomore campaign, started 55 games at second base, missing only five games after he was hit in the face by a pitch vs. Cal State Fullerton on Mar. 26 … Led the team with 47 runs scored, five triples and 19 stolen bases on 26 attempts … Reached base five times vs. Fordham on Feb. 24, going 3-for-3 with two walks, two runs, a double and a triple … Scored a career-high four runs the next day, despite going 0-for-2 at the plate … In the third game vs. Fordham (Feb. 26), went 3-for-5 with three RBIs, two doubles and a steal … Had two steals and scored twice in a win at No. 7 North Carolina (Mar. 3) … Recorded a career-high four hits vs. Cal State Fullerton (Mar. 25) … Had a career-high four RBIs in a win at UC Irvine (Apr. 22) … Carried a 12-game hitting streak through the end of the regular season and the entire Long Beach Regional … Over the final 12 games of the season, had an impressive nine multi-hit games and went 20-for-47 (.426) during that span … Was the unofficial offensive MVP of the Long Beach Regional, going 9-for-21 (.429) over the five games against San Diego State and Texas, recording three runs scored, six RBIs, three stolen bases and three sacrifice bunts to lead the team in nearly all offensive categories … Nearly hit a walk-off, inside-the-park home run against Texas (June 3), but was thrown out at the plate in the bottom of the 10th inning … The next night, had the game-winning RBI with a two-out single in the top of the 8th inning, helping the Dirtbags to a 4-3 win over Texas to force a winner-take-all Game 7.
(2016): Started 55 games as the primary second baseman ... assumed the leadoff spot in the batting order for the first time on Apr. 23 at UC Riverside and led off 21 times, second most on the team ... batted .272 with 34 runs, 17 RBIs and was second on the team in stolen bases (13 on 23 attempts), walks (30), and sacrifice bunts (12) ... started his career on a five-game hitting streak, then finished his freshman season on an active 15-game hitting streak ... had 15 multi-hit games including three three-hit games ... scored three runs four times ... on May 21 at UC Davis, went 2-for-3 with a pair of walks, scored three times, drove in two more runs and finished with a pair of doubles ... got his power stroke going at the end of the season, recording nine of his 12 extra-base hits in the final month of the season ... during the Coral Gables Regional, five of his six hits went for extra bases, including two doubles, two triples and his first career home run on June 4 against Miami (FL) ... named to the All-Tournament team at the Coral Gables Regional.
Cypress High School: Team won CIF-SS Division 2 championship his sophomore year ... on three straight Empire League championship teams with the Centurions ... All-Empire League selection and member of the North All-Star Team ... a .410 hitter in league play and team leader in triples.
