Brown Keeps Cal Poly Down as Dirtbags Complete Sweep

Tanner Brown was dominant on Sunday afternoon, throwing 8.2 innings in a 4-1 Dirtbags win to finish off a sweep of Cal Poly.

Long Beach State (2016): Appeared in 30 games as a freshman, making 10 starts at three different positions with a .211 batting average … recorded his first career hit as a pinch-hitter against Columbia on Mar. 18, sending an RBI single to right field … made his first career start at second base against Columbia on Mar. 20 … logged two starts at second base, seven starts in right field and one in left field … went on a five-game hitting streak from Apr. 29-May 8, going 9-for-16 during his hot streak … recorded three straight multi-hit games against Cal Poly, UCLA and Hawai’i from May 1-7 … had his first multi-RBI game against the Bruins (May 3), then recorded his first three-hit game at Hawai’i in his next appearance (May 7), going 3-for-4 … On May 8 at Hawai’i, hit a leadoff double in the ninth inning of a 3-3 game, setting up the game-winning run for the Dirtbags with his first career extra-base hit … after recording just one hit in his first 16 games, went 11-for-34 (.324) over his last 14 appearances.

Aliso Viejo High School: Four-year varsity member for the Wolverines, playing in all but two games over his final three seasons … Named 1st Team All-South Coast League and 2nd Team All-County in 2014 … hit .368 with 27 runs and 29 RBIs as a junior, helping his team to the CIF-SS Division 2 final.
