LBSU took Game 1 of the Long Beach Super Regional, 3-0, earning its 12th shutout win of the season.
LBSU led the Big West with 11 players and head coach Troy Buckley earning All-Conference recognition or awards.
LBSU picked up a 1-0 victory, its 10th shutout of the season, on the road against rivals Cal State Fullerton on Saturday.
LBSU completed its fourth sweep of the season Sunday, opening up a two-game lead atop the Big West standings.
The Dirtbags grinded out a 3-1 win at Cal and have now won eight of their last nine games.
Long Beach State (2017): Second Team All-Big West selection … Made 26 appearances out of the bullpen, going 1-2 with a 2.60 ERA while collecting a team-leading 13 saves … That brought his career save total to 26, tying him for second in program history with Josh Alliston and Neil Jamison … Allowed just 21 hits in 34.2 innings while racking up an impressive 47 strikeouts … Led the team in batting average against, allowing opposing batters to hit just .172 against him … Earned his first save of the season with a perfect inning against Fordham (Feb. 25) … Had 10 straight scoreless appearances from Mar. 14-Apr. 24 … Threw 13.2 innings in that span, allowing just four hits and three walks while striking out 20 batters and collecting four saves … Included in that stretch was a four-out save at Cal (Mar. 27) in which he struck out four batters, giving head coach Troy Buckley his 200th career win … Pitched a career-high four innings against Texas (June 3) in the Long Beach Regional, throwing 50 pitches in that outing … Closed the door on LBSU’s clinching 2-1 win over Texas (June 5) to win the Long Beach Regional with a scoreless ninth inning … Earned a save in game one of the Long Beach Super Regional by striking out the side against Cal State Fullerton and stranding the bases loaded in the 3-0 win.
