Dirtbags Fall, 9-2, In Series Opener With Nebraska

LBSU surrendered a pair of home runs in the defeat and will hope to win the series in tomorrow’s doubleheader.

Long Beach State (2016): Played in 49 games with 38 starts in his first season with the Dirtbags … played all three outfield positions, starting twice in LF, five times in CF and 31 times in RF … hit .225 with 17 RBIs and was second on the team with six HBPs … made his first start against Arizona State (Feb. 26) … first base hit was a pinch-hit RBI single against Nebraska (Mar. 4) … started the next day against the Cornhuskers, going 4-for-7 including a walkoff RBI single in LBSU’s 1-0 win … stole a base in three of four games from Mar. 5-12 against three different teams … drew a season-best three walks vs. Columbia (Mar. 18) … had his first multi-RBI game against Columbia (Mar. 19) … played all three outfield positions over the final three innings of a 2-0 win vs. UC Santa Barbara (Apr. 3) … threw out a baserunner at the plate at Hawai’i (May 6), picking up one of his two outfield assists on the year … hit his first home run of the season in LBSU’s final game, at Miami (FL) in the NCAA Regionals (June 5) … that three-run home run set a new career-high in RBIs with one swing, and came as part of a six-run sixth inning.

Sacramento CC (2014-15): Hit .280 as a sophomore with 28 runs scored and 27 RBIs ... drew 33 walks leading to a .440 on-base percentage ... 10 of his 34 starts were multi-hit games, and he had a five-RBI performance against Cosumnes River.

Vista Del Lago High School: Sierra Valley Conference All-League selection and team MVP in 2012 ... member of first team in school history to reach the postseason ... batted .366 as a senior with nine extra-base hits and a team-leading 28 runs scored ... was 14-for-16 in stolen base attempts as a senior ... played in all 57 of the Eagles' games during his two years on varsity.
