Long Beach State Strength Complex
During the summer of 2006, the Long Beach State strength and conditioning program moved into its new 5,500 square foot facility, which features 18 weightlifting platforms and 6,000 kilograms of free weight. Overseeing the program are head strength and conditioning coach Jamie Hiegel and assistant coach Chris Whittle. At Long Beach State, athletes are exposed to techniques that will help build a character foundation necessary to succeed in life through hard work, pride, dedication, and a commitment to excellence.
Program emphasis includes:
- Mental Toughness
- Injury Prevention
All training movements are sport specific to copy a student-athlete's performance during competition. Programs are specifically designed to promote injury prevention by pre-habilitating the student athlete and allow them to match the demands of their sport.
