LONG BEACH - Long Beach State track and field/cross country will honor its 2009 men's and women's teams, in addition to a number of outstanding individual performers at its annual postseason banquet on Saturday, Jan. 23, at The Grand. The awards ceremony is sponsored by Asics America.

The 49er track and field team had 12 student-athletes advance to the NCAA West Regional meet last season, where Kenneth Medwood earned an automatic bid to the national championships by placing fifth in the 400-meter hurdles.

LBSU's cross country teams will also be honored as they recently wrapped up their 2009 campaign with strong showings at the NCAA West Regionals in Eugene, Ore. Both squads also had top five finishes at the Big West Conference championships with Missy Barclay garnering All-Big West honors.

The banquet will get underway with a social at 1 p.m., followed by lunch (1:30 p.m.) and the awards program starting at 2:30 p.m. The cost per person is $35.
