ENRIQUEZ NAMED TO ALL-REGIONAL TEAM
Chris Enriquez was named to the Division I All-Region this past Monday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) following last weekend's regional meets. Enriquez was among 450 student-athletes earned the distinction by finishing among the top 25 individual finishers at one of the nine regional sites across the country.
ENRIQUEZ MAKES HISTORY AT WEST REGIONAL
Enriquez finished in 10th place on Friday at the NCAA West Regional in Sacramento, covering the 10K course at Haggin Oaks Golf Club in a time 29:55, finishing the same time behind Big West Conference men's champion Chris Frias of Cal Poly. The Downey, Calif., native finished 20 seconds behind individual champion Edward Cheserek of Oregon as he led the group of 187 runners to a time of 29:35. Enriquez finished behind four runners from the Pacific-12 Conference as Stanford had runners place second and third and Oregon came away with the champion Cheserek and fifth. Enriquez became the first 49er in over 25 years to advance to the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
ENRIQUEZ, ZATOR LEAD 49ERS AT BIG WEST CHAMPIONSHIPS
LBSU recorded fourth-place finishes for both teams at the Big West Conference Championships in San Luis Obispo last week. The women's team finished with 125 points, while the men collected 118 points. Senior Hillary Zator and junior Chris Enriquez led the way for the 49ers as both runners placed fifth in their respective races. Zator crossed the finish line in the women's 6,000-meter race in a time of 22:00.3, while Enriquez ran the men's 8K course in a time of 25:34.3.
