LONG BEACH - The Long Beach State cross country team travels to Seattle, Wash. for the NCAA West Regional on Friday, Nov. 9 at Jefferson Park Golf Course hosted by the University of Washington.

The women's 6,000-meter race is scheduled to start at 12 p.m., followed by the men's 10,000-meter event at 1:15 p.m.

The 49er women will be represented by Alisia Barajas, Jessica Barnard, Madison D'Ornellas, Prism Garcia, Catherine Martinez, Nine Moore and Michelle Thompson.

On the men's side, LBSU will be represented by Tim Bergstrom, Chris Enriquez, Gabe Hilbert, Jared Long, Chris Low and Arturo Trejo.

LBSU will look to improve from last year's west regional at Stanford, where the men's squad finished in ninth place with 288 points and the women's team placed 11th with 332 points.

The West Regional features schools from states of Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon and Washington. The top two men's and women's teams from each regional automatically qualify to the NCAA Championships that will take place on Nov. 17, in Louisville, Ky. Individual and team at-large bids will also be awarded following the nine regionals held around the country on Friday. Those bids will be extended over the weekend.

"This meet will be a great opportunity for our younger men to gain valuable experience in a high level championship environment," distance coach Patrick Wales-Dinan said. "I am also excited to watch senior Jared Long close out his collegiate cross country career. He has been an exceptional leader for us."

"The women have a chance to race in the best region in the country and test their talents among some elite distance runners," stated Wales-Dinan. "If things come together as we hope we could come away with some high level performances."
