49ers run at Titan Invitational in Fullerton

FULLERTON, Calif. - Freshman Madison D'Ornellas led the way for the Long Beach State women's cross country team in the 5,000-meter race at the Titan Invitational in Fullerton. D'Ornellas crossed the finish line in 28th place with a time of 18:26.7.

LBSU finished in eighth-place with 199 points. Cal State San Marcos led the field of 10 teams with 22 points, followed by UCLA in second (65 points) and UC Santa Barbara in third (108 points).

Suzanne Cornwell of San Marcos placed first with a time of 17:01.7.

On the men's side, the LBSU was paced by freshman Arturo Trejo as he crossed the line in 78th with a time of 27:00.4. Fellow classmate Cameron Pantoja followed close behind in 78th, finishing one-tenth behind.

The 49er men placed seventh in the eight-team field with 188 points. Cal State San Marcos won the team championship with 18 points, followed by Vanguard in second with 58 points and Loyola Marymount in third (68 points).

Sergy Suschikh running unattached, won the men's 8K race with a time of 24:05.9.

Both teams from LBSU used the Titan Invitational as a warmup, resting the "A" team for the upcoming Big West Conference Championships next Saturday at UC Riverside.
