Sept. 11, 2012
IRVINE, Calif. - Senior Nina Moore has been named the Big West Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week the conference office announced Tuesday.
This is the first weekly honor for Moore and for Long Beach State this season.
Moore led a mixed group of LBSU's top-seven runners to a sixth-place showing at the adidas/UC Irvine Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 8. She took seventh overall and was the first runner to cross the finish line who was not a member of the 11th-ranked Arkansas team.
The Santa Clarita, Calif., native ran a season-best 17:43.7, trimming 15 seconds off her mark from the 2011 UC Irvine Invitational. It was the second-fastest time ever by a 49er on the ARC Sports Fields course.
