Long Beach State Places 18 Student-Athletes On All-Academic Team

Long Beach State placed 18 student-athletes on the 2013 Big West Fall All-Academic Team, the conference announced on Thursday. Student-athlete from the four fall sports at The Beach (women’s volleyball, women’s soccer, women’s cross country and men’s cross country) were represented on the All-Academic Team.
A total of 190 student-athlete from the nine member institutions were honored on the 2013 Big West Conference Fall All-Academic team for the sports of women’s volleyball, men’s and women’s soccer, and men’s and women’s cross country. To be eligible for the All-Academic team, student-athletes must maintain a 3.0 cumulative grade point average, complete one full academic year at the member institution prior to the season for which the award is being received (at least a sophomore academically), and compete in at least 50 percent of their team’s contests.
The women’s volleyball team led the fall sports at The Beach with six student-athletes on the All-Academic team. Women’s soccer placed five on the annual list. The men’s cross country had four honorees and women’s cross country had three.
