Chris Enriquez Places 10th At NCAA West Regional

SACRAMENTO - Long Beach State junior Chris Enriquez finished in 10th place at the NCAA West Regional on Friday at the Haggin Oaks Golf Club.
Enriquez ran the men's 10,000-meter course in a time of 29:55, finishing the same time behind Big West Conference champion Chris Frias of Cal Poly in ninth.
The Downey, Calif., native finished 20 seconds behind individual champion Edward Cheserek of Oregon as he led the group of 187 runners to a time of 29:35. Enriquez finished behind three runners from the Pacific-12 Conference as Stanford had runners place second and third and Oregon came away with fifth.
LBSU placed 17th with 511 points, improving by six spots from last year's west regional in Seattle, finishing in 23rd place. The 49ers were the second top team from the Big West as UC Santa Barbara placed 10th with 287 points.
Stanford captured the team title, leading the 27-team field with 53 points, holding off second-place Oregon (64 points) and Portland (92) in third.
Freshman Emillio Nunez crossed the finish line in 117th in a time of 32:12, followed by fellow classmate Sam Bautista in 125th (32:26), sophomore Tim Bergstrom in 135th (32:39), freshman Kevin Ramirez (136th, 32:40), sophomore Cameron Pantoja (163rd, 33:35) and freshman Jose Herrera(177th, 34:15).
On the women's side, senior Hillary Zator led the way for the 49ers in the 6K event, crossing the line in 46th with a personal best of 20:39.
LBSU placed 26th with 689 points. Arizona won the team championship, leading the 32-team field with 54 points, followed by Stanford in second with 94 points and Oregon in third with 120 points.
Boise State's Emma Bates won first-place honors, pacing the 225 runners to a time of 19:11.
Sophomore Alexis Trujillo finished second for LBSU, crossing the line in 107th with a personal best of 21:30, followed by senior Taylor Goto (170th, 22:18), freshman Ashley Carrera (179th, 22:27), senior Andrea Gayton-Jacob (201st, 22:52), freshmen Lali Avila (207th, 23:05) and Caitlin Turner (210th, 23:17).
