LBSU Cross Country Closes Out Season At NCAA West Regional

SEATTLE - The Long Beach State men's and women's cross country teams closed out the 2017 season on Friday morning at the NCAA West Regional at Jefferson Park Golf Course.

The women's team finished in 28th place among 36 teams, scoring a total of 783 points.

San Francisco captured the women's team title with 59 points as the Dons edged second-place Stanford with 76 points and third-place Oregon with 92 points.

Redshirt junior Mikayla Florez was the top runner for the 49ers, crossing the finish line in 104th with a time of 21:41.7.

Freshman Taylor Owen finished in 144th (22:15.4), followed by junior Alexis Ceballos in 160th (22:27.0), sophomore Julie Vargas placing 177th (22:40.5), and freshman Mauren Fitzsimmons in 208th (23:18.9).

Freshman Chloe Masuda finished in 233rd (24:43.9) and sophomore Christie Nesbit in 238th (25:00.4)

The Dons' Charlotte Taylor won the women's individual title, leading the pack of 241 runners with a 6K time of 19:14.2.

On the men's side, LBSU placed 29th among 30 teams with 770 points.

Portland claimed the men's team title with 63 points as the Pilots edged second-place Washington with 65 points and third-place Stanford with 85 points.

Senior George Martinez was the top runner for the Beach, crossing the finish line in 111th among 205 runners with a mark of 31:46.3.

Freshman Joey Del Valle Rutherford placed 129th (32:17.3), followed by junior Trevor Stangle in 162nd (32:53.9), freshman Ezra Sotelo in 183rd (33:27.1) and sophomore Faustino Diaz in 189th (33:48.6).

The Pilots' Emmanuel Roudolff-Levisse won the individual men's title with a 10K time of 29:33.1.
