Enriquez, Zator Runs To Fifth Place Honors At Big West Conference Championships

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - Long Beach State senior Hillary Zator and junior Chris Enriquez recorded fifth-place honors at the Big West Conference Cross Country Championships on Saturday morning at the Fairbanks Memorial Course in San Luis Obispo.
Zator crossed the finish line in the women's 6,000-meter race in a time of 22:00.3, leading the 49ers to fourth with 125 points. On the men's side, Enriquez ran the 8K course in a time of 25:34.3, leading the 49ers to fourth with 118 points.
This was the highest finish for both teams since 2011, when the women's squad placed second (61 pts.) and the men's team finished in third (69).
Sophomore Alexis Trujillo placed 25th for the 49ers with a mark of 23:37.4, while freshmen Ashley Carrera crossed the line 15 seconds later in 29th at 23:52.8 and Caitlin Turner finished in 35th at 24:07.6.
Cal Poly's Laura Hollander won the top honors, leading the 72 runners with a time of 20:43.9 and helping the Mustangs claim the team championship for the second year in row.
Chris Frias of Cal Poly led the 64 runners to a time of 25:19.5 , leading the Mustangs to their fourth consecutive Big West Championship.
LBSU returns to action on Friday, Nov. 15, traveling to Sacramento for the NCAA West Regional at the Haggin Oaks Golf Club.
