LBSU women's track & field team earns all-academic honors

LONG BEACH - The Long Beach State women's track and field squad was tabbed a 2010 Division I All-Academic Team the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced Wednesday.

A total of 151 women's Division I programs were recognized as all-academic teams. Oklahoma led the nation with the highest cumulative grade-point average (3.62).

The 49ers, who posted a 3.04 team GPA, and UC Irvine (3.19) represented the Big West, while the Big East led all conferences with 12 members notching all-academic status.

LBSU also recently had four athletes earn individual all-academic honors as Randi Hicks, Jennifer Rodriguez, Alex Black and Matt Maldonado were recognized for their work both on and off the track.
