LONG BEACH - Long Beach State track & field had six individuals receive 2013 USTFCCCA All-Academic recognition, while both the men's and women's squads were also selected as All-Academic Teams, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced Wednesday.
The 49er women had a cumulative team grade-point average of 3.00, to claim their ninth-straight All-Academic Team honor.
On the men's side, LBSU combined for a 3.12 cumulative GPA and was the only Big West school to be selected as an All-Academic Team.
Individually, Gabe Hilbert and Matt Maldonado both took home their second-straight USTFCCCA All-Academic awards. Hilbert was the Big West champion in the 800m as he clocked in with a lifetime-best 1:48.99. That mark ranks fourth in school history.
