Michael Perez-Rogers Finishes 10th in 400m at USA Junior Championships

DES MOINES, Iowa - Long Beach State's Michael Perez-Rogers finished 10th overall in the 400-meter prelims at the 2013 USA Junior Outdoor Track & Field Championships Friday at Drake Stadium.
Perez-Rogers, who was fourth in his heat, clocked in at 48.20 seconds but just missed out on placing among the top-eight, which advanced to the finals. Perez-Rogers qualified for the meet, which features the nation's top junior athletes ages 16-19, with a personal-record 47.51 at the Big West Championships. He was also a Big West qualifier in the 200m.
On Thursday evening, Marina Shelton also competed in the women's hammer throw. She was 14th overall with her best distance of the day coming on her second attempt (158-06). Shelton entered the meet with a lifetime-best 170-01, which she established at the Beach Invitational. That mark also ranks eighth in school history.
