BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Long Beach State's Jacob Fraser and Catherine Martinez both had strong showings at the USA Junior Championships at Robert C. Haugh Track and Field Complex on the campus of Indiana University, June 15-17.
Martinez kicked things off on Friday evening, finishing two spots out of qualifying for the women's 1500m final as she placed 14th overall (4:36.10). Martinez entered the meet with a season-best 4:33.92, which she established at the Big West Championships in May.
On Saturday, Fraser registered a season-best 57-06.50 in the shot put to finish fifth in Flight 1 and 10th overall. He bettered his ranking by three spots.
Fraser came back on Sunday to compete in the men's discus, but the results have not yet been posted.
