Hicks earns All-America status in women's javelin

LONG BEACH - Junior Randi Hicks (Oxnard, Calif.) garnered All-America honors in the women's javelin the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced Monday afternoon. A total of 523 awards were presented to 428 individuals as a result of national top eight finishes in last weekend's NCAA Division I Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore. In addition, the top eight finishing athletes among U.S. citizens from the NCAA Championships gain All-America status. Hicks recently capped off a stellar season by placing sixth in her heat and 12th overall with a toss of 157-08 at the championship meet. Earlier in the year, Hicks established a school and Big West Conference record 170-11 at the Ben Brown Invitational (March 6). She also racked up four individual victories during the season, including the Big West title on May 14.
