49er Features: Catching up with Track & Field Alum Ronald Carter
June 7, 2013
LongBeachState.com recently caught up with track and field alum Ronald Carter, who was an all-american and all-conference triple jumper for the 49ers from 2002-07.
Known to his teammates as "RC" during his LBSU days, Carter was one of the track team's top jumpers and, he still holds the indoor triple jump record with a mark of 52-7.25. After finishing up his eligibility in 2007, Carter continued his jumping career professionally where he had to manage having a full-time job while still finding time to train and compete at a high level.
Carter jumped professionally through July of 2011, deciding to hang up his spikes after his passion for competing began to dwindle and he became interested in other career paths.
Although his athletic career was behind him, Carter continued to be connected to Long Beach State Athletics and the track and field program. Today, he works for Asics as a team sales rep and works with LBSU's Head Track & Field Coach Andy Sythe on outfitting the team in competition and training gear, as well as many other athletic programs across the country.
