LONG BEACH - The Long Beach State track & field team heads to Northern California this weekend for the 2012 Stanford Invitational, April 6-7.

STANFORD INVITATIONAL INFO
The 49ers have five distance runners entered in six different events at the 38th annual Stanford Invitational, which will be held Friday and Saturday at Cobb Track & Angell Field.

Gabriel Hilbert (1500m), Steven DeCastro (3000m Steeplechase), Jessica Barnard (1500m), Alisia Barajas (5000m) and Rosa Del Toro (5000m) are set to compete on Friday, while Hilbert and Barnard return to the track on Saturday for the 800m.

49ERS RACK UP BIG WEST WEEKLY AWARDS
Long Beach State has claimed four Big West Athlete of the Week awards so far this season. Ben Woodruff earned his second honor of the year on Tuesday, April 3, after winning the javelin by 19 feet at the Cal-Nevada Championships. He registered a lifetime-best 235-10, which is tops in the conference, second in school history, third in the West Region and ninth in the nation. Woodruff was previously named the Big West Men's Field Athlete of the Week when he notched a then personal-record 235-04 to finish ahead of the pack at the Beach Classic (March 2).

Jacob Weintraub also collected Big West Men's Field Athlete of the Week honors on March 27. Weintraub won the discus and finished third in the shot put at the UC Irvine Spring Break Invitational. He is currently tops in the conference in the discus (170-00) and second in the shot put (58-07.25).

Rosa Del Toro was tabbed the Big West Women's Track Athlete of the Week on March 20. Del Toro finished third overall in the 1500m at the rain-shortened Aztec Invitational. Despite running in inclement weather, she clocked in at 4:29.36, just .32 seconds off her previous lifetime best. The Van Nuys native currently ranks fifth in program history as she recently notched a personal-record 4:28.44 at the Cal-Nevada Championships.

LAST TIME OUT
The Long Beach State men and women both finished second at the 2012 Cal-Nevada Championships last weekend. The 49ers posted nine individual victories over the two-day meet. On Saturday, Ben Woodruff took top honors in the men's javelin, while Jessica Barnard claimed the 3000m steeplechase title with a lifetime-best 10:44.49.

On Sunday, Kayla Goosby, Saedra Wright, Dee Lars and Emily Cooper started off the day with a victory in the 4x100 relay (46.99), while Rosa Del Toro finished ahead of the pack in the 1500m as she clocked in with a personal-record 4:28.44, which ranks her fifth in school history. Also winning their respective events were Katrina Graves-Johnson (high jump), Koree Hines (110H), Christopher Lawson (400H), Jacob Weintraub (discus) and Brandon Hierholzer (pole vault).

BIG WEST QUALIFIERS
After five weeks of competition, the 49ers already have 66 Big West qualifying marks. Sixteen 49ers have also qualified in multiple events.
