Gold Edges Black in 18th Annual Intersquad Meet

The Long Beach State track and field team held its 18th annual intersquad meet Saturday afternoon at Jack Rose Track where the Gold team edged the Black squad, 218-204. Sophomore Nimrod Piggee and freshman Ashley Campbell led the Gold team with both picking up a pair of individual wins. Piggee was tops in the men's 55- and 300-meter hurdles, while Campbell crossed the finish line first in the women's 150m and 300m. Jennifer Onyeagbako paced the black squad, claiming the shot put, discus and hammer throw. All-American Brent Gray chipped in with a pair of victories in the 150- and 300-meter sprints. The 49ers also hosted the Twilight Distance Carnival later in the evening. Complete results for both events can be viewed by clicking the respective links at the top of the page. Long Beach State will host its awards banquet on Jan. 17, honoring its 2008 track and field and cross country teams, before kicking off the 2009 indoor season at the University of Washington Invitational and the Northern Arizona Mountain T's Invitational (Jan. 30-31).
