Graves-Johnson wraps up 2012 season at NCAA Outdoor Championships

DES MOINES, Iowa - Senior Katrina Graves-Johnson wrapped up the 2012 season on Friday as she cleared 5-08.75 to finish 21st in the women's high jump at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Drake Stadium.
Graves-Johnson started the competition by making her second attempt with the bar at 5-07. She then cleared 5-08.75 on her first try, but was unsuccessful on each of her three attempts at the next height of 5-10.50.
Graves-Johnson earned honorable mention All-America status. She was also a second-team All-American during the indoor season.
Graves-Johnson, who came to Long Beach State as a walk-on, had a memorable senior campaign. She garnered All-Big West honors in the high jump for the second year in a row with a runner-up showing at the conference championships.
The Monrovia, Calif., native earned her third trip to the NCAA West Preliminaries as she registered a lifetime-best 5-10.75 at both the Mt. SAC Relays and the Steve Scott Invitational. Graves-Johnson then punched her ticket to the NCAA Championships after placing 12th overall at the regional meet.
During the indoor season, Graves-Johnson was 16th at the NCAA Indoor Championships and second at the MPSF Championships. She also tied a 12-year old school record when she cleared a career-high 5-11.50 at the Husky Classic.
