IRVINE, Calif. - Junior Tayler O'Connor (San Mateo, Calif.) had a strong showing on the first day of the heptathlon at the Big West Multi-Events Championship as she sits in third place after compiling 2,928 points Friday afternoon at Anteater Stadium.

O'Connor established three lifetime bests in the first four events. Highlighting the day was a first-place performance in the high jump. O'Connor cleared a career-high tying 5-08.75 to notch her second NCAA West Regional qualifying mark of the season.

O'Connor added a runner-up finish in the shot put with a lifetime-best 37-07.25, putting her just a half inch behind the leader.

Rounding out the events on day one, O'Connor took ninth in the 100 hurdles (15.91) and was 11th in the 200m dash (27.61). Her hurdle time was a personal record.

O'Connor will conclude competition at the Big West Championships tomorrow with the long jump, javelin throw and 800-meter run. The heptathlon events are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. at Anteater Stadium.
