LA JOLLA, Calif. - A handful of Long Beach State pole vaulters opened the 2012 Triton Invitational Friday afternoon at Triton Track & Field Stadium in La Jolla.

Brandon Hierholzer won the men's pole vault open, clearing a personal-record 16-05.25.

In the women's pole vault open, Kayla Kamaka was the 49ers' top finisher as she tied for third with a height of 11-08.50.

Amanda Klinchuch also established a season-best and Big West qualifying mark of 11-02.50. Klinchuch tied for eighth along with teammate Carissa Culver.

LBSU returns to La Jolla for the final day of the Triton Invitational, while also beginning the Steve Scott Invitational at UC Irvine's Anteater Stadium on Saturday, April 28.
