Cervantes Registers Personal Best in Hammer Throw at UCI Spring Break Invite

IRVINE, Calif. - The Long Beach State track & field team opened the UC Irvine Spring Break Invitational with the hammer throw and 3000m steeplechase Friday at Anteater Stadium.
Alexandra Cervantes led the way in the hammer, registering a personal-record 165-08 to finish sixth overall. Her mark also ranks 10th in school history.
In the women's 3000m steeplechase, Kylee Martin took eighth with a time of 11:40.43, which puts her at No. 9 on the 49er all-time charts.
The men's hammer throw results were not yet available.
The UCI Spring Break Invite will continue on Saturday, March 23. The field events begin at 10 a.m., and the track events are set to start at noon.
