SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Long Beach State track & field team competed in the Aztec Invitational and registered seven personal records Saturday at SDSU Sports Deck on the campus of San Diego State.

Junior Adam Bianchessi won the javelin with a personal-best 223-07. His mark ranks fourth in school history.

Chris Yates, the reigning Big West Men's Field Athlete of the Week, notched a lifetime-best 57-00.25 to place third in the shot put. It is the second weekend in a row that Yates has posted a personal record and he is now tied for ninth on the 49er all-time charts. Jacob Fraser added a top-10 showing as he took eighth at 52-02.

Fraser also came in fourth in the discus (177-01), behind teammate Jason Harrell, who finished fourth with a personal-best 177-09.

Michael Vaughan was the runner-up in the triple jump with a leap of 47-04.5, and Willie Alexander took third in the long jump (22-06.25). Garrett Demirjian also placed 11th in the high jump (6-02.75).

Conner Rouse paced the 49ers in the pole vault as he cleared 15-08.25 to finish 11th. Niko Althaus and Michael Montgomery also tied for 14th at 15-03.75.

 

 

Devin Hickey claimed the 110-meter title in a wind-aided 14.46 seconds, while Koree Hines was right behind him at 14.51 seconds to make it a 1-2 finish for LBSU. Garrett Demirjian also had a strong showing as he was 13th overall.

Hines and Hickey were also Long Beach State's top performers in the 100m. Hines placed 12th (11.30), and Hickey came in 13th (11.34).

Dylan McCloskey posted a third-place performance in the 200m with a time of 21.51 seconds. Elijah Landry-Zapien was also 14th (22.41).

Jahmani Lockett took fourth in the 400m (48.34), while Michael Perez-Rogers finished 10th (49.10).

The 4x100 relay team of Dylan McCloskey, Michael Perez-Rogers, Devin Hickey and Cameron Glasgow came in fifth at 41.83 seconds. Jahmani Lockett, Connor Naasz, Bryce Van Boxtel and Koree Hines also combined for a sixth-place finish in the 4x400 (3:18.73).

On the women's side, Amanda Klinchuch established a personal-record 12-00 to finish 16th in the pole vault. Her mark is tied for seventh in program history.

In the shot put, Alexandra Cervantes (44-01.50) and Brianna Viltz (36-02.25) had lifetime bests, while Linda Rueff was the 49ers' top finisher in the discus as she came in 11th with a season-best 140-04.

Iesha Iwobi tied for eighth in the long jump at 17-08.25, while Taylor Jackson finished 10th with a lifetime-best 17-08.25. Janelle Coulter led the way in the high jump, tying for 12th at 5-03.

Emily Cooper was the runner-up in the 100-meter dash, clocking in at a season-best 12.04 seconds. Cooper was also Long Beach State's top performer in the 200m (16th, 24.65).

Amber Clark was 18th in the 100-meter hurdles (15.36), while Taylor Lorack established a season-best 65.89 to finish 22nd in the 400m hurdles.

Saedra Wright won her heat and was 25th overall in the 400m, crossing the finish line in 57.71 seconds.

The quartet of Emily Cooper, Kayla Goosby, Kristina Goosby and Saedra Wright registered a season-best 47.14 in the 4x100 relay. They were first in their heat and eighth overall.

Long Beach State will head to Irvine next weekend for the UCI Spring Break Invitational, March 22-23.
