FULLERTON, Calif. - Junior Fatima Vergara led a handful of Long Beach State hammer throwers at the Ben Brown Invitational Friday in Fullerton.
Vergara, who was coming off a first-place finish in the hammer at the RCC Quad Meet last weekend, posted a personal-record 192-02 at the Ben Brown Invitational. She became just the third 49er to throw for over 190 feet as she joined school-record holder Jennifer Onyeagbako (199-05) and Stephanie Sampson (193-05) in the elite group.
On the men's side, Robert Marlow recorded a lifetime-best 171-02, and Jacob Fraser hit 160-07.
Long Beach State is back in action tomorrow when it heads to Irvine where it will face Purdue, Cerritos College and host UCI in the Anteater 4-Way Meet. The field events begin at 9 a.m., while the first track event is set for noon.
