NORWALK, Calif. - Ben Woodruff highlighted six individual victories for the 49ers with a huge lifetime best in the javelin at the Beach Classic Saturday at Cerritos College.

Woodruff won the men's javelin with a personal-record 235-04. He topped his lifetime best by 14 feet and was just two feet shy of the school record.

Jacob Weintraub didn't disappoint in his first outdoor meet in a 49er uniform as he won the discus (170-00) and had a runner-up performance in the shot put (58-03.25). His mark in the latter event was the fifth-longest in school history. Jacob Fraser also took third in both the discus and shot put.

Koree Hines claimed the individual title in the 110m hurdles, clocking in at 14.37 seconds. Christopher Lawson came in third at 14.65 seconds and Garrett Demirjian also placed sixth overall (14.95).

Sam Jeter finished second in the 400m hurdles (52.93) and Jahmani Lockett added a second-place showing in the 400m with a time of 48.21 seconds.

Kevin Jenkins and Garrett Demirjian tied for fourth in the high jump, clearing 6-03.5.

Dillon Fox and Brandon Hierholzer tied for third in the pole vault (15-02.25).

On the women's side, the 49ers were dominant in the hurdle events. Five individuals placed in the top 10 in the 100m hurdles with Shakina Phillips winning the event in 14.13 seconds. Phylicia Johnson was right behind her at 14.17 seconds.

Phillips also took top honors in the 400 hurdles (63.61).

Long Beach State swept the 5000m, with Kylee Martin finishing ahead of the pack in 18:10.44. Annie Randall came in second (18:14.55) and Nina Moore placed third (18:17.64).

Emily Cooper had a pair of top-10 finishes as she was third overall in the 100m dash (12.38) and seventh in the 200m (25.78). Kayla Goosby added a sixth-place showing in the 100m, crossing the finish line in 12.50 seconds. Saedra Wright finished fourth in the 400m.

Long Beach State took second in both relays. Kayla Goosby, Dee Lars, Saedra Wright and Emily Cooper clocked in at 47.44 in the 4x100, while Jasmine Askew, Chelsea Hairanian, Alex Kruthers and Wright finished the 4x400 in 3 minutes, 55.05 seconds.

In the field events, Stephanie Armstrong took second in the high jump, clearing 5-05.75, and Janelle Coulter was third at 5-03.75.

Kristen Kiefer finished fourth in the long jump with a leap of 17-01.

Kayla Kamaka and Carissa Culver tied for third in the pole vault (11-07.75).

Alexandra Cervantes placed fifth overall in the shot put at 39-08.75, while Wendy Izquierdo added a top 10 finish at 37-04.

The 49ers competed in the hammer throw on Friday. Josh Villalobos led the men with a fifth-place finish (172-11), while Shari Harris was the top finisher for the women as she came in seventh with a toss of 161-09.

Long Beach State continues the outdoor season next weekend when it heads to Fullerton for the Ben Brown Invitational, March 9-10. The NCAA Indoor Championships will also be held March 9-10 in Nampa, Idaho.
