RIVERSIDE, Calif. - The Long Beach State track and field team won 14 of the 22 events it competed in Wednesday afternoon in a non-scored meet against Riverside Community College.

Jacob Fraser led the men as he was a double-winner in the shot put (51-05) and discus (153-06), while adding a runner-up performance in the hammer toss (149-08). Kevin Jenkins also had a pair of first-place finishes, claiming the triple jump (45-05.25) and the high jump (6-04).

Justin Fox was right behind Jenkins in the high jump, clearing 6-00, and took top honors in the long jump with a leap of 21-11.50. On the track, Jake Dawson clocked in at 8:41.33 to win the 3000m.

In the women's events, Milana Maddalone was the top finisher in the 600m (1:41) and the mile run (5:25.73). Dee Lars also won the 800m in 41.28 seconds, while Nina Moore was the 3000m champion at 10:51.40.

Kayla Goosby was victorious in the 60-meter dash and Amber Clark claimed the 60m hurdle title (9.06). The 49ers swept the top three spots in the hurdle event with Iesha Iwobi finishing second (9.27) and Aiyana Welsh placing third (9.30).

 

 

In the field events, Amanda Klinchuch and Carissa Culver tied for first in the pole vault with a height of 10-06 and Iwobi won the long jump (16-09.75).

Long Beach State returns to action this weekend when it heads to Seattle, Wash., for the MPSF Indoor Track & Field Championships. The 49ers officially kick off the outdoor season, March 2-3, when they host the Beach Classic at Cerritos College.
