Del Toro Continues to Re-Write LBSU Record Books on First Day of Husky Classic

SEATTLE, Wash. - Senior Rosa Del Toro notched her sixth school record as she registered a lifetime-best 16:23.15 in the 5000-meter run on the first day of the Husky Classic at Dempsey Indoor.
Del Toro, who shattered her old PR of 17:08.26, finished seventh overall. She now ranks first among the 49er all-time leaders in the indoor mile, 3000m and 5000m, the outdoor 1500m, and both the 5K and 6K in cross country.
Senior Michelle Thompson also posted a lifetime-best 17:11.86 to finish 10th in her heat and 48th overall in the 5000m. Thompson's mark was the third-fastest in program history.
On the men's side, senior Jake Dawson clocked in with a personal-record 14:37.37 in the 5000m. He was the top finisher in his section and came in 50th overall. Dawson also broke into the LBSU record books, as he sits at No. 3 all-time.
Long Beach State continues action at the Husky Classic tomorrow with four distance runners set to compete in five events. The rest of the 49ers will be in action at the Air Force Team Challenge in Colorado.
