Sara Macey begins her first season as the assistant jumps coach for the 49ers.
Macey was a four-year letterwinner on the LBSU track & field team. As a senior, she earned All-Big West honors with a second-place finish in the heptathlon. Macey registered a personal-best 5,160 points which ranks third in school history. She also notched lifetime bests in the 100m hurdles (14.27), high jump (5-08.5) and shot put (36-05.5) during the Big West Multi-Event Championships.
Macey was a four-time Big West qualifier in the high jump and advanced to the 2012 NCAA West Preliminaries.
Macey graduated from Long Beach State in 2013 with a bachelor's degree in human development.
