49er men win fifth-straight Big West Challenge title, women finish second

Ben Woodruff won the javelin with a school and conference record 243-02

2012: Finished seventh overall in the 3000-meter steeplechase at the Big West Championships (9:25.52) ... Ran a personal-record 9:15.3 at the Steve Scott Invitational ... Runner-up at the Big West Challenge ... Also established a lifetime-best 3:57.28 in the 1500m at the Beach Invitational and 14:55.93 in the 5000m at the Ben Brown Invitational.

2011: Competed in the 3000m steeplechase at the Big West Championships ... Entered the meet with a season-best 9:36.92, which he established at the Steve Scott Invitational ... Ran a season-low 4:02.14 in the 1500m at the Big West Challenge ... Also had a season-best 2:01.34 in the 800m at the UCSD Triton Invitational.
