Assistant Throws Coach

Ben Woodruff is in his first year as an assistant throws coach at LBSU.

Woodruff was a two-year letterwinner at Long Beach State after transferring from El Camino College. As a 49er, Woodruff was a two-time Big West champion in the javelin.

In his senior season, Woodruff earned All-America honors after finishing 19th at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Woodruff was also the 2012 Big West Men's Field Athlete of the Year. He still holds a school and conference-record 243-02 in the javelin.

Following his collegiate career, Woodruff competed at the U.S. Olympic Trials where he advanced to the finals and placed 12th overall.

Woodruff graduated from Long Beach State in 2012 with a bachelor's degree in economics.
