Long Beach State Indoor Track & Field Nets 11 MPSF All-Academic Selections

LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State placed 11 student-athletes on the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Indoor Track & Field All-Academic Team it was announced by the conference on Friday morning.

Seven men were recognized including seniors Robert Marlow and Paul Thenard who earned MPSF All-Academic honors for the third straight year. Marlow collected the honors after posting a 3.67 GPA, while Thenard secured a spot on the all-academic team after accumulating a GPA of 3.20.

Joining Marlow and Thenard on the MPSF All-Academic Team are seniors Xander Cooper (3.13 GPA), Bo Haddock (3.07) and James Hubbard (3.29), along with sophomores Josh Carr (3.36) and Nicholas Hudson (3.31).

The women’s squad saw the quartet of senior Riley Cooks, juniors Lauren Bartsch and Ashleigh Chambers, as well as sophomore Lea Fong named to the all-academic team.

Cooks and Chambers have now earned the honors for three consecutive years as Cooks owns a GPA of 3.38, while Chambers boasts a GPA of 3.52.

 

 

Bartsch found her way onto the list with a 3.38 GPA and Fong made the all-academic team in her first year of eligibility with a 4.00 GPA.

To be named to the All-Academic Team, student-athletes must have a 3.00 or better cumulative grade point average, be at least a sophomore academically, have completed one full academic year at the nominating institution prior to the season for which the award is being received, and must have competed in 50 percent or more of the nominating institution’s competition.
