SEATTLE - Long Beach State is in the Pacific Northwest this weekend for the MPSF Indoor Championships at the University of Washington. LBSU is sending a big squad with nearly 50 individual entries for this weekend's competition.

On the men's side, Jason Smith leads the way for the Beach as a contender in both the high jump and long jump this weekend. Smith ranks fourth in the MPSF in the high jump this season and ranks seventh in the conference in the high jump. Raleigh Adams should also be among the favorites in the 60-meter hurdles as he enters with the fifth-best qualifying time in the field.

The women's sprints will be the busiest events of the weekend for the Beach. LBSU will have four representatives in both the 60-meter and 200-meter dashes and there will be five Long Beach State participants in the 400.

Senior Courtne' Davis has the eighth-fastest qualifying time in the 60-meter dash, and ranks 11th in the 200. Among the other top contenders on the women's side is sophomore Bria Palmer, who ranks sixth entering the women's high jump. After reaching the NCAA's as a last chance qualifier a season ago in the women's weight throw, De'Ondra Young returns to the event this weekend with the fifth-best qualifying mark in the field.

Action gets underway from Dempsey Indoor at Noon on Friday, with action running late into the evening. The competition will resume on Saturday morning at 10 a.m.
