Down 4-2 in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Dirtbags put two across to tie the game, and won it in extra innings as Juan Avila singled to start the inning, and scored on an RBI single by Zack Rivera, his third hit of the day. The walkoff hit gave Long Beach State a 5-4 win over UC Riverside.

Long Beach State extended its winning streak to four games with a 5-4 victory over UC Riverside Saturday, winning the series with the Highlanders in the process. Senior Juan Avila went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in the victory.

Coming off of a complete game victory last Friday, Shane Carle was brilliant again, striking out a career-high 13 batters on the way to a 5-0 win over UC Riverside, the first complete game shutout of the season for the Dirtbags.
