Long Beach State Athletics has officially launched its 2011-12 marketing/promotional campaign: Your 49ers. The purpose of the Your 49ers campaign will be to further enhance and strengthen the relationships and affinity between the athletic program, University and Long Beach area community.

Long Beach State women's water polo came out of the gate with a strong performance in their home opener, coming just one goal short of an upset of No. 8 San Diego State in a 13-12 thriller.

The 11th-ranked Long Beach State men's volleyball team picked up its first Mountain Pacific Sports Federation win in convincing fashion as it swept No. 10 Cal State Northridge, 25-16, 25-19, 25-20, Friday evening at the Walter Pyramid.

Long Beach State won eight of nine matches on Friday and stayed undefeated in the young season in a 6-1 win over BYU on Friday. Senior Anais Dallara picked up a pair of wins at No. 1 doubles and singles for the 49ers.

The 49ers host Cal State Northridge Saturday looking to extend a number of winning streaks. LBSU has won 18 straight home games and 17 straight conference games.
