Tamika Spivey joined the Bickerstaff Academic Center as an Academic Counselor in 2014, and is responsible for coordinating academic support for the Men's and Women's Track & Field programs. Spivey is also responsible for the Freshman Transitions Program, assisting incoming freshmen with tutoring as well as mentoring with juniors and seniors to help with the adjustment to the college environment.

A 2003 graduate of San Diego State, Spivey worked as a student-advisor and graduate assistant at San Diego State while pursuing her Master's degree, which she completed in 2006.

Sophomore Natalia Munoz won the singles championship in the top flight of the UNLV Fall Invitational. Along the way Munoz picked up her first career win over a ranked opponent, defeating No. 83 Aiwen Zhu of UNLV in the semifinals, 6-1, 5-7, 7-6.
