Roger Kirk was promoted to Assistant Athletics Director for Media Relations in 2013 after six years at Long Beach State following his joining the department in 2007.
Kirk is responsible for overseeing the department's communications efforts for Long Beach State's 19 Division I sports, acting as a liaison for television and radio broadcasts and serving as the primary contact for Men's Basketball, Softball, and Beach Volleyball.
In service of LBSU's volleyball programs, Kirk was the 2010 winner of the American Volleyball Coaches Association West Region Grant Burger award, given in recognition of outstanding service in the promotion of volleyball.
In addition to his event and media responsibilities for the Long Beach State athletic department, Kirk also serves as the webmaster for the official website of Long Beach State, www.longbeachstate.com. During his time at The Beach, Kirk has overseen two major redesigns of the athletic website, incorporating additional video and audio coverage of Beach athletic contests as well as increasing visibility for the website as a whole.
Prior to coming to Long Beach State, Kirk worked for three years at Fresno State, working as the secondary contact for football as well as the primary contact for baseball, women's basketball, and wrestling. A 2003 graduate of the University of Puget Sound, Kirk began his professional career working in professional baseball with the Minnesota Twins, Tacoma Rainiers, and Fort Myers Miracle.
