Dr. Chris Jolly joined Long Beach State in 2006 as a member of the Bickerstaff Academic Center. As the Student-Athlete Success Program coordinator, Jolly is tasked with providing comprehensive academic support over all 19 Division I athletic programs at Long Beach State. Among the programs that Jolly supervises are Long Beach State's peer mentoring and tutoring efforts, along with the creation and development of academic skills workshops.

A 1990 graduate of Alabama, Jolly went on to complete both a Master's and a PhD in the History of Science at Oregon State, finishing his Master's work in 1999 before receiving his PhD in 2003. While at Oregon State, Jolly received an American Philosophical Society Research Fellowship as well as a National Science Foundation Grant.

In the private sector, Jolly worked for Apple as a grantwriter, and also served as a project manager at Ross Campbell before coming to the Beach. He remains a member of the History of Science Society.

Sophomore Natalia Munoz won the singles championship in the top flight of the UNLV Fall Invitational. Along the way Munoz picked up her first career win over a ranked opponent, defeating No. 83 Aiwen Zhu of UNLV in the semifinals, 6-1, 5-7, 7-6.
