Bailey worked for 36 years at Long Beach State, including 34 as the head athletic trainer for the University before retiring in 2007. Supervising the care for thousands of Long Beach State student-athletes over that time, Bailey was inducted into the Long Beach State Athletics Hall of Fame in 2008.

The event will have multiple speakers with Dan's son Joe Bailey and former Men's Basketball Coach Seth Greenberg returning to campus. University President Jane Close Conoley, Director of Athletics Andy Fee and Assistant Athletics Director for Sports Medicine Jarrod Spanjer will also have remarks.

Many former colleagues, student-athletes and friends are expected to attend the naming ceremony, which is open to the public and will be held in the Legacy Courtyard of the Kinesiology Building.
