Twelve LBSU Student-Athletes Honored As 2014 Big West Academic All-Conference
All fall sports placed multiple student athletes in the Academic All-Conference.
Long Beach, Calif.- Twelve Long Beach State student -athletes have earned the 2014 Big West Conference All- Academic honors for the fall sports of women’s volleyball, women’s soccer, women’s cross country, and men’s cross country.
To be eligible for the Big West All-Academic team, student-athletes have to maintain a 3.0 cumulative grade point average, complete one full academic year at LBSU prior to the season for which the award is being received and compete in at least fifty percent of their team’s contests.
Senior Bre Mackie and Junior Alex Reid were named All-Academic for women’s volleyball. Women’s soccer had four honorees, with sophomores Mimi Akaogi, Celeste Dominguez, Mimi Rangel; and junior Melanie Fox.
The cross country programs also had six honorees with sophomores Xitlali Avila, Ashley Carrera and Kathleen Dunne representing the women’s team and with senior Tim Bergstrom and sophomores Sam Bautista and Kevin Ramirez representing the men’s program.
