Dirtbags Winter Pitching Program is organized by LBSU Dirtbags pitching coach, Mike Steele. Coach Steele comes from the Pittsburgh Pirates organization, having tutored pitchers in the third-ranked MLB farm system that produced current MLBers Gerrit Cole and Jared Hughes (also a former Dirtbag). He has tailored this off-season pitching program toward the pitcher looking to improve his chances of pitching competitively at his current level, has the motivation to compete at the next level, and wants to lengthen their pitching career.

Here are some highlights of what to expect from the Dirtbags Winter Pitching Program:

  • Proper body and arm activation and conditioning focused on long term health
  • Learn throwing mechanics and routine specifically for each participant
  • Strengthening and conditioning for pitchers based on dynamic movement and mobility/flexibility/reflexivity
  • How to focus on athleticism in delivery
  • Learn mental conditioning techniques of Dirtbag pitching
  • Recruiting/scouting education for parents and pitchers
  • Learn difference between being a Pitcher vs. Thrower
  • How to prepare for spring season

Baseball pants or shirts
Cleats and Athletic Shoes (e.g. turfs, running shoes)
Notebook and pen
Parents are welcome to observe camp

Camper check-in will begin approximately 30 minutes before camp begins at the 3B side gate of Blair Field. Camp will start promptly at 5:30p.
